Google announced on Thursday, February 23, that it is bringing Magic Eraser, a heavily touted feature on Google Pixel phones that allows users to easily erase objects and people from photos, to all Google One subscribers, both the android (other than Google Pixel) and iOS users. This means that even iPhone owners can use the object removal tool if they have a Google One cloud storage plan. At start this feature was only there for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 lineup but now Google confirmed that the feature will also be available on older Pixel phones such as the Pixel 5a and earlier models.
How to use Magic Eraser?
Google’s Magic Eraser can be used in several ways. If the AI detects obvious objects that are there in the background and can be deleted, it will suggest them and offer to delete them with a single click. Alternatively, users can also draw a circle around the area they want to erase, and the AI will remove it and fill it in with the surrounding background.
Another option is to use the camouflage feature, which will change the color of the object you want to hide, making it blend into the background. This creates a more natural-looking photo than using the erase function.
More for Google One Subscribers
Google One subscribers are not just getting the Magic Eraser tool but also additional features such as an HDR video effect and exclusive collage designs. The HDR video effect will allow users to enhance the contrast and brightness of their videos, which will help to balance dark foregrounds and bright backgrounds, or vice versa. Similar to the existing HDR effect for photos.
Also, free shipping on print orders is now available to Google One subscribers in the US, Canada, EU, and UK. The minimum threshold for free shipping varies by region. For instance, in the US, subscribers will receive free standard shipping for canvas prints, and free economy shipping for photo book or photo print orders of $12 or more.
