People have grown quite sick of Google Pixel smartphones by this point in the year. Over the past few months, a continuous flow of leaks and rumors has circulated about the upcoming Pixels, to the extent that we knew virtually everything before Rick Osterloh even took the stage at Made by Google today.
But the Pixel 8 series brings plenty of reasons for excitement with some crucial design changes and an all-new processor. If you’re curious about these next-gen phones by the tech gaint, here’s everything you need to know about the Pixel 8 lineup.
Google Pixel 8: Specs and Features
The Google Pixel 8 features a 6.2-inch Actua display with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering 1,400 nits of brightness (with peaks reaching up to 2,000 nits), and it boasts a pixel density of 427 pixels per inch. An elegant glass and metal design houses it, and like many premium smartphones today, it embraces a punch-hole display, setting a fresh standard for the industry.
In terms of its camera, the Google Pixel 8 offers a strong camera performance, carrying a 50MP PD wide primary sensor, alongside a 12MP ultrawide camera and a 10.5MP selfie camera. Powering it all is a 4,575mAh battery that comes with 27W fast charging. Additionally, the Pixel 8 retains beloved features from its predecessor, such as Qi wireless charging support and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
When it comes to its processor, the Pixel 8 is driven by the Tensor G3 processor, providing both speed and improved efficiency compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G2. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and offers storage options of up to 256 GB.
The Google Pixel 8 comes preloaded with the latest Android 14 operating system. Google has significantly extended its software support, committing to providing up to seven years of security patches and major Android OS updates, representing a substantial improvement from the previous three-year support cycle.
